Karen Pattani-Hason, Chief Marketing Officer of MediaVision Interntaional (MVI), has a long history in music and television. She began her career as a banker at Chemical Bank, now JP Morgan Chase, finishing strong in an intensive Wall Street training program before moving up to manage the accounts of several music and film executives. She was the youngest to be promoted to AVP in her training class and won a New Business Award for a major commercial real estate deal she closed for one of her clients. Karen decided to join her clients in the entertainment business, and her achievements at the bank landed her a full Citicorp Fellowship to Columbia Business School. While at Columbia, Karen landed a coveted internship at MTV which quickly grew to a full-time production manager's job while she was still in grad school.
Karen then transitioned to BMG Music (now Sony BMG), initially working as Sales and Marketing Manager for BMG Special Products, becoming the top earner in her first year on the job, selling music compilations to previously untapped markets and clients including Starbucks, Kellogg's and Nestle. She then rose to VP/A&R for BMG Direct, managing a staff of 21 responsible for all music selection for all BMG Music Service genres. She then moved to Island Def Jam Recordings, a division of Vivendi/Universal, to head New Media Business Development for the label. While at IDJ/Universal, Karen closed the label's first online ad sales deal for defjam.com, and also the label's first ring tone deal. Karen transitioned to running all New Business Development for the label, spearheading special projects for Kevin Liles, Russell Simmons and Lyor Cohen in addition to her New Media responsibilities.
After 15 years in corporate, Karen decided to work for herself, and spent several years doing independent strategic marketing and business development consulting before joining MVI. She has a BA in Economics and French from Tufts University and an MBA in Marketing and Media Management from Columbia Business School.
